Senior Social Worker – Children’s Safeguarding

About the role

The Senior Social Worker will join Birmingham Children’s Trust’s Children’s Safeguarding team, delivering high‑quality protection and support for vulnerable children and young people across the city. Working on a complex caseload, you will ensure statutory requirements are met and that each child’s welfare remains the top priority.

Key responsibilities

• Safeguard and promote the welfare of vulnerable children and young people through high‑quality service delivery.
• Manage a complex caseload, ensuring all legislative and statutory duties are fulfilled.
• Collect, record and critically analyse information using management information systems to inform assessments and actions.
• Develop and implement multi‑agency plans for children in need of protection or in care, monitoring progress and reviewing outcomes.
• Lead and contribute to multi‑agency meetings, ensuring they are proactive, timely and centred on the child’s wishes and feelings.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker with extensive experience in children’s safeguarding.
• Registered with the appropriate professional body and able to obtain an Enhanced DBS disclosure.
• Demonstrated ability to handle complex cases and work collaboratively with multi‑agency partners.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in using management information systems for reporting.
