Senior Software Engineer

About the role

We are hiring on behalf of a high‑growth fintech organisation for a Senior Software Engineer to join its core technical team. The role is remote‑first across the UK and Europe, with optional access to a collaborative hub in Moorgate, London.

Key responsibilities

• Build and scale resilient fintech platforms and component services using Java.
• Engage in full‑time pair programming to share knowledge and maintain zero technical silos.
• Continuously refactor production code to reduce technical debt and improve system agility.
• Author robust automated test suites within a sophisticated continuous‑integration pipeline.
• Identify, script and automate repetitive tasks to improve development efficiency.
• Operate in a trunk‑based delivery model, treating each change as releasable.
• Rotate across teams periodically to maintain shared ownership of the codebase.
• Optimize performance for high‑throughput, high‑availability, ultra‑low‑latency features.

Required profile

• Strong commercial experience writing clean, structured Java code.
• Familiarity with Test‑Driven Development pipelines.
• Willingness to pair‑program full‑time.
• Exposure to Behaviour‑Driven Development and Domain‑Driven Design methodologies.
• Excellent communication skills for articulating architectural decisions.
• Open‑minded about academic background; focus on problem‑solving ability.
