Senior Tax Manager – Private Client

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Tax Manager to lead and grow our Private Client team in Birmingham. The role offers real autonomy, direct access to partners and the chance to shape the department while working three days a week on‑site in a genuinely independent, partner‑led practice.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Personal and Trust Tax compliance service, reviewing and signing off returns.
• Deliver advisory work on trusts, inheritance tax, capital gains tax, offshore trusts and international tax matters.
• Oversee 60‑day CGT returns, Trust Registration Service, Trust IHT returns and CRS reporting.
• Act as the primary point of contact for HMRC, clients and professional advisers.
• Manage complex client relationships and associated risk.
• Recruit, coach, appraise and train team members.
• Own workflow, WIP, billing and recoveries for the area.
• Participate in business development, networking and technical marketing as desired.

Required profile

• CTA, ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent experience).
• Significant experience in Private Client tax and trust matters.
• Strong technical grounding in Personal Tax, Trusts, IHT and CGT.
• Proven leadership or management experience.
• Commercially minded with excellent client relationship skills.
