Senior Telecoms Standards Specialist

About the role

You will shape the future of secure telecommunications by representing UKTL on the global stage. As a senior specialist you will influence international standards, ensuring networks become more secure, resilient and secure‑by‑design.

Key responsibilities

• Lead UKTL’s participation in global telecom standards bodies, articulating and promoting the company’s security and resilience viewpoint.
• Provide expert guidance on telecom architecture, standards and emerging technologies to internal and external stakeholders.
• Translate complex standards into clear, actionable strategies, reports and presentations for senior leadership.
• Monitor global developments such as AI in telecoms and satellite networks, advising on emerging threats and opportunities.
• Mentor colleagues, build capability across the organisation and champion technical excellence.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with a proven track record of influencing technical decisions at an international level.
• Strong communicator able to engage both technical experts and executive audiences.
• Willingness to travel up to nine weeks per year and attend regular meetings in Birmingham.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of global telecom standards, particularly 3GPP and GSMA.
• Expertise in telecom architecture and emerging technologies.
• Ability to analyse complex technical material and produce clear strategic guidance.
