Senior Wordings Technician

About the role

The Senior Wordings Technician will join a leading specialty insurer operating in the Lloyd’s market. Reporting to the Head of Wordings, you will act as a key technical partner to underwriters, brokers and claims teams, ensuring that policy documentation accurately reflects the intended cover, aligns with the company’s risk appetite, and delivers fair, compliant outcomes for customers.

Key responsibilities

• Review, draft and negotiate policy wordings and contractual documentation, ensuring clarity, consistency and compliance.
• Partner with underwriting teams, brokers and third parties to develop and implement effective wording solutions.
• Provide technical wording expertise to support underwriting, claims and commercial decision‑making.
• Identify and resolve contractual and market issues with commercially appropriate solutions.
• Lead complex wording negotiations and support product development, market research and regulatory activities.
• Ensure adherence to market standards, regulatory requirements and internal governance controls.
• Contribute to training, knowledge sharing and the development of wording capability across the business.

Required profile

• In‑depth knowledge of insurance contracts, policy wordings and customer communications.
• Strong understanding of London market practice, including reinsurance wordings.
