Sexual Health Practitioner – NHS Scotland

About the role

The Lothian Sexual and Reproductive Health Service (LSRHS) is seeking an experienced registered nurse or midwife to join its integrated team as a Band 5 Sexual Health Practitioner. You will deliver specialist care across a range of sexual health clinics, supporting diverse patients in Edinburgh and the wider Lothian area.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical care in Genitourinary Medicine (GUM), HIV, contraception, abortion and vasectomy services.
• Cover the HR+ young people service and the CHOICES termination of pregnancy service.
• Support local clinics and outreach sessions, including at least one evening shift per week.
• Ensure patient and staff safety, maintain infection‑control standards, and contribute to a welcoming, non‑judgemental environment.
• Participate in the management and leadership of the nursing team.

Required profile

• First‑level registered nurse or midwife with post‑registration experience.
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience in sexual health or a closely related field.
• Open, curious and non‑judgemental approach to inclusive patient care.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings.
