Shelter Relief Coordinator – ASLAN Night Shelter (Casual)

About the role

The Shelter Relief Coordinator will support the Shelter Manager in delivering the Faith and Volunteer Network (FVN) night shelter for rough sleepers in Westminster. Working early mornings and evenings, including weekends and holiday periods, you will help provide a safe, compassionate environment for guests while coordinating volunteers across multiple venues.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Shelter Manager to organise and coordinate the operational delivery of the FVN shelter.
• Be present and visible at all venues for daily shifts, working alongside other Relief Coordinators.
• Ensure the shelter runs effectively, handling any issues calmly and maintaining a peaceful environment.
• Manage each shift’s team of volunteers, safeguarding the safety of guests and volunteers.
• Induct new volunteers and guests into the shelter setting.
• Collaborate with referring agencies, shelter teams and guests to meet guest needs fairly and consistently.
• Collect relevant data and manage safeguarding concerns.
• Work cooperatively with venue volunteer coordinators.
• Engage with shelter guests respectfully, building their confidence and improving quality of life.

Required profile

• Experience working with homeless or other vulnerable adults.
• Proven interpersonal skills, able to motivate and encourage people.
• Experience of safeguarding, data protection and handling sensitive personal information.
• Strong administrative abilities, good written and oral communication, and computer literacy.
• Ability to take initiative and work unsupervised.
