About the role
The AppleJDK team in Services builds and secures the Java runtime used across Apple services. As a Software Engineer you will work on the JVM, JIT compilers, garbage collectors, and native interfaces to improve security and stability.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement security enhancements for the Java virtual machine.
- Debug and resolve runtime issues across multiple subsystems.
- Collaborate with Services teams to ensure secure feature implementation.
- Contribute to performance, memory‑safety, and stability improvements.
- Respond to security incidents and develop mitigation strategies.
- Create tooling, tests, and documentation for runtime components.
Required profile
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Strong programming experience in C, C++ and Java.
- Excellent debugging, critical‑thinking, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of compilers, parsers, interpreters, and assembly‑level programming (preferably ARM64).
