Solutions Design Manager – Transport Network Optimisation

About the role

We are seeking a Solutions Design Manager to lead transport network modelling and optimisation for a fast‑growing logistics organisation undergoing a UK‑wide transformation. The role combines analytical rigour with commercial insight, working closely with senior leadership to shape the future of the company’s transport operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimise national transport networks to improve utilisation, efficiency and service performance.
• Analyse route structures, trunking operations, fleet deployment and operational data to identify improvement opportunities.
• Develop strategic recommendations on fleet utilisation, vehicle mix and operating models.
• Lead network modelling exercises supporting fleet rationalisation and optimisation initiatives.
• Support commercial teams on major customer tenders, business development and scenario planning.
• Model delivery volumes, vehicle requirements, route networks and operational costs from large customer datasets.
• Produce cost models, business cases and operational recommendations for tender submissions and strategic projects.
• Partner with operational leaders to create warehouse costing methodologies and cost‑per‑slot models.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with a commercial focus.
• Proven experience in transport network design, optimisation or logistics modelling.
• Ability to work with large data sets and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
• Excellent communication skills to influence senior stakeholders and cross‑functional teams.
