Specialist Pharmacist – Medicine of the Elderly (Band 7)

About the role

This permanent Band 7 position at Western General Hospital offers a motivated pharmacist the chance to specialise in Medicine of the Elderly (MOE). You will join a dynamic multidisciplinary team delivering pharmaceutical care to frail older patients across admissions and downstream MOE wards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert pharmaceutical care for older adults, optimising medicines and supporting safe prescribing.
• Collaborate closely with the MOE pharmacy team and the wider multidisciplinary team on ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings.
• Support and develop junior pharmacy staff, sharing knowledge and best practice.
• Lead service‑improvement, quality‑improvement, research and leadership projects under senior mentorship.
• Progress your practice in line with the Royal College of Pharmacy Advanced Pharmacy Practice Curriculum and achieve credentialing.

Required profile

• Master of Pharmacy degree (or equivalent) with GPhC registration.
• Completion of, or competence equivalent to, the RPS post‑registration foundation pharmacist curriculum.
• Demonstrated commitment to evidence‑based, patient‑focused pharmaceutical services.
• Experience influencing prescribing practices and working within a multidisciplinary clinical environment.
