About the role

An exciting opportunity to join a market‑leading Tax Disputes team at a leading international law firm in London. You will work alongside respected lawyers advising major corporates, financial institutions and high‑profile individuals on complex, high‑value tax disputes.

Key responsibilities

• Managing contentious tax matters from early‑stage investigations through to litigation and resolution.
• Advising on HMRC enquiries, investigations, assessments, and challenges.
• Preparing strategic advice, legal opinions, submissions, and court documents.
• Representing clients in tax litigation proceedings before UK courts and tribunals.
• Supporting international tax controversy matters alongside colleagues across global offices.
• Collaborating with lawyers across tax, disputes, corporate, finance, and regulatory teams.
• Building trusted client relationships and contributing to the growth of the practice.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with strong experience in tax disputes, tax litigation, or contentious tax advisory work.
• Experience managing complex tax controversy matters.
• Strong understanding of UK tax law and dispute resolution procedures.
• Excellent drafting, analytical, and advocacy skills.
• Ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly and commercially.
• Proactive approach with confidence to work directly with sophisticated clients.
• Genuine interest in developing a career within a leading international practice.
