Tax Manager – Leading Accountancy Practice

About the role
Our client, a leading accountancy practice in Manchester, is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead a portfolio of tax clients and deliver high‑value advisory services.
Key responsibilities
- Managing a portfolio of tax clients.
- Reviewing tax returns, computations and compliance processes.
- Delivering proactive tax planning and advisory services.
- Advising on succession planning, restructures, shareholder planning, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, corporation tax and business growth strategies.
- Supporting clients through HMRC enquiries and investigations.
- Building and maintaining strong, long‑term client relationships.
- Identifying opportunities to develop existing client services and generate new business.
- Managing, mentoring and developing junior tax professionals.
- Collaborating with Partners on complex projects and business development initiatives.
- Keeping up to date with changes in tax legislation and sharing technical knowledge across the team.
Required profile
- CTA, ATT, ACA or ACCA qualified (or qualified by experience).
- Previous experience managing tax clients within an accountancy practice.
- Strong technical knowledge across one or more tax disciplines.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Commercially aware with a proactive, client‑focused approach.
- Passionate about developing both clients and junior team members.

- Tax compliance and return preparation.
- Tax planning and advisory.
- Corporation tax, inheritance tax and capital gains tax expertise.
- Succession planning and shareholder restructuring.
- Handling HMRC investigations and enquiries.
