Tax Manager – SME & Startup Advisory

About the role

We are seeking a Tax Manager to join a fast‑growing, technology‑led accountancy team that supports ambitious entrepreneurs and startups. You will act as the tax specialist for a diverse portfolio of SME and startup clients, delivering expert advice on corporation tax, VAT and personal tax while helping owners navigate operational challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Provide tax advice on corporation tax, VAT and personal tax for SME and startup clients.
• Review and ensure accuracy of tax computations and returns.
• Identify tax planning opportunities and efficiencies for owner‑managed businesses.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for client tax queries.
• Support new business onboarding and advise on appropriate trading and tax structures.
• Keep clients and colleagues informed of relevant legislative changes.
• Contribute to process improvements and internal best‑practice development.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA, ATT or CTA qualified or part‑qualified.
• Strong experience advising SME, startup or owner‑managed business clients.
• Previous experience in an accountancy practice or outsourced finance environment.
• Confident communicator able to explain technical matters to non‑finance stakeholders.
• Commercially minded with a genuine interest in supporting growing businesses.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple client relationships.
