Tax Senior – Personal Tax & Advisory Specialist

About the role

We are an established accountancy practice in Shirley seeking a motivated Tax Senior to manage a portfolio of personal tax clients and support the Head of Private Client Tax. The role offers a supportive, flexible environment where you will handle tax compliance and develop advisory expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit Self‑Assessment Tax Returns for a diverse client base, including sole traders, landlords, company directors and high‑net‑worth individuals.
• Complete and submit P11D forms.
• Prepare and file quarterly Making Tax Digital (MTD) reports.
• Prepare Capital Gains Tax computations and returns.
• Liaise with clients to gather information and provide tax advice where required.
• Communicate with HMRC on behalf of clients to resolve queries and handle correspondence.
• Assist the Head of Private Client Tax with advisory work, trust and estate compliance and a range of HMRC disclosures.
• Keep up to date with changes in tax legislation and best practice.

Required profile

• Confidence managing a large portfolio of tax returns for directors, sole traders, HNWIs and landlords.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience covering both OMB and private client work.
• Experience preparing P11D forms.
• Willingness to extend knowledge into trust and estate compliance.
• Interest and aptitude for advisory work.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Qualified ATT, CTA, ACA/ACCA or STEP (or part‑qualified with intention to continue studies).
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
