Technical Support Lawyer

About the role

Keoghs LLP is seeking a qualified legal professional to join its Casualty business unit as a Technical Support Lawyer (TSL). The TSL will lead a team of delegated authority handlers, manage a diverse caseload of complex claims, and drive technical excellence across the portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, mentor and develop handlers and assistants to achieve technical excellence.
• Conduct financial authority audits and ensure commercial handling of files.
• Design and implement strategies for sub‑team cases, supporting economical case work while delivering optimal client outcomes.
• Embed KYO strategies, support client‑facing colleagues, and participate in client audits, meetings, training sessions and workshops.
• Attend internal technical meetings, disseminate information, and deliver bespoke training for the sub‑team.
• Maintain a personal caseload of complex public‑sector claims, including Employer’s Liability, Public Liability, civil penalty appeals, data protection, Equality Act and Human Rights matters.
• Build and maintain relationships with Keoghs clients and meet targets for chargeable hours, work‑in‑progress and client‑provided information.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor or CILEX member.
• Proven experience handling EL/PL files up to £100k.
• Solid litigation background and prior supervision experience.
• Financial authority of at least £25k.
• Strong advocacy, communication and client‑care skills.
• Ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
