Underwriting Assistant

About the role

Join AXA XL as an Underwriting Assistant and start your career in insurance. Based in our modern London office with a hybrid working model, you will support the Life, Accident & Health underwriting team and gain exposure to strategic projects across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Assist underwriters in recording risk details on source systems and retrieve data as required.
• Build and maintain broker relationships and develop knowledge of the class of business.
• Maintain underwriting documentation and ensure files are orderly.
• Liaise with the Credit Control team to answer queries and track premium using core underwriting systems.
• Collaborate with underwriting support functions to respond to control and exception reports.
• Develop requirements for statistical and insightful reports for the underwriting function.
• Monitor renewal lists and support the delegated renewal process alongside underwriters, pricing, claims, and governance.
• Work closely with shared services to ensure accurate and timely service to underwriters and clients.
• Participate in ad‑hoc projects and initiatives as needed.

Required profile

• Basic experience or strong interest in insurance and underwriting.
• Motivation to develop a career in the insurance sector.
• Ability to work accurately, meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
