Veterinary Surgeon – Part‑time (Weekends)

About the role

Pet Blood Bank UK is seeking a qualified Veterinary Surgeon to lead weekend blood‑donation sessions across the South‑West. The role is part‑time, covering a minimum of 8‑12 sessions per year on Saturdays and Sundays, and is paid at £29.57 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise blood donation sessions, the collection team and volunteers.
• Perform physical examinations of canine donors and ensure owners understand the procedure.
• Collect donor blood samples and complete donor records accurately.
• Provide a positive experience for donors and owners from start to finish.
• Assist in training new team members and maintain training records.
• Represent the charity at events to promote donor recruitment.

Required profile

• Qualified MRCVS with current RCVS registration.
• Minimum one year post‑graduation experience in small‑animal clinical practice.
• Excellent communication and customer‑care skills.
• Ability to lead a small team and work independently.
• Full UK driving licence and own transport.
• Organised, proactive, detail‑oriented with strong problem‑solving abilities.
• Confidence in blood sampling with owners present.
• Availability to work on Saturdays and Sundays.
