Alcohol & Drug Technician (Zero‑Hour Contract)

About the role

The Alcohol & Drug Technician will deliver on‑site alcohol and drug testing for a range of client organisations. Working under the Hampton Knight division, you will support a proactive occupational health service that helps keep workplaces safe and compliant.

Key responsibilities

• Perform alcohol breath tests and urine or oral‑fluid drug tests using company‑provided equipment.
• Follow strict Chain of Custody procedures for all samples, whether processed on‑site or sent to a laboratory.
• Adhere to Medigold Health and Network Rail standards for testing and documentation.
• Attend scheduled and unscheduled client sites, ensuring arrival within a two‑hour window for call‑outs.
• Provide weekly availability to the administration team and remain flexible for short‑notice assignments.
• Accurately complete all testing protocols, paperwork, and data entry.
• Support the Client Services Team with process improvements and promote Hampton Knight positively.

Required profile

• Full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to work on a zero‑hour basis with variable hours, including out‑of‑hours call‑outs.
• Ability to travel to client sites across the UK.
• No prior experience in the alcohol and drug industry required – full training will be provided.

Required skills

• Alcohol breath testing equipment operation.
• Urine and oral‑fluid drug testing procedures.
• Chain of Custody documentation and sample handling.
