Business Development Director – Edinburgh

About the role

The Business Development Director will be based in Edinburgh and report to the Head of Business Development. Working closely with the Regional Director, Corporate Client Relationship Teams and Product Solution Teams, the role drives market origination for Santander’s Corporate Clients segment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead new business delivery in the region together with the Regional Director.
• Collaborate with Relationship and Product Teams to generate market origination activity and ensure deal conversion.
• Support origination of internationally focused, sustainable, high‑growth businesses and work with structured finance on M&A or growth‑capital deals.
• Build external relationships and act as a differentiator for Santander with prospects and Key Business Introducers.
• Coordinate corporate and commercial banking regional origination and market strategy, identifying trends and creating opportunities.
• Follow the IAM Risk framework and manage all types of risk.

Required profile

• Proactive and responsible approach to risk management.
• Strong understanding of corporate banking and the Santander proposition.
• Ability to build and maintain external relationships with prospects and introducers.
• Capability to analyse market opportunities and trends.
