Category Buyer – IT Procurement (Hybrid – Derby)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced procurement professional to lead sourcing and management of IT, software, SaaS, and indirect service categories. The role is based in Derby with a flexible hybrid working model – one day in the office and the remainder remote.

Key responsibilities

• Manage sourcing, supplier negotiations and contract activities across IT and indirect categories.
• Support category strategies focused on cost savings, supplier performance and risk management.
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
• Analyse spend data and market trends to identify commercial opportunities.
• Ensure procurement processes, contracts and supplier engagements align with business requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of procurement systems and processes.

Required profile

• Experience in IT, indirect or technology procurement environments.
• Strong negotiation, stakeholder management and communication abilities.
• Commercial mindset with a track record of delivering cost efficiencies.
• Familiarity with software, SaaS or service‑based agreements.
• Organised, proactive and capable of managing multiple priorities.
