Data Analyst – Hybrid (Edinburgh/Manchester)

About the role

We are seeking a data‑focused Data Analyst to join our team on a contract basis. Working in a modern AWS‑based environment, you will spend the majority of your time uncovering insights from raw datasets and shaping logical data models that support scalable data products.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct detailed data discovery across multiple datasets, assessing structure, quality and relationships.
• Query and analyse large volumes of data using SQL to surface insights and detect anomalies.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define data requirements and translate them into actionable outputs.
• Develop and maintain logical data models (LDM) and map them to federated data models (FDM).
• Support data standardisation processes, especially for raw data ingestion.
• Work closely with architecture and engineering teams to ensure consistent, best‑practice data product design.

Required profile

• Highly analytical with a strong focus on data investigation and discovery.
• Comfortable working in complex, data‑heavy environments and handling ambiguous datasets.
• Proactive, detail‑oriented and able to bridge business needs with technical delivery.

Required skills

• Strong SQL proficiency.
• Experience with AWS services, particularly S3.
• Logical data modelling expertise.
• Understanding of data product architecture and raw data standardisation.
• Ability to write clear technical user stories.
