Commercial Officer – Air

About the role

The Air Commercial Team within the Ministry of Defence is looking for a Commercial Officer to support contract performance and management for a diverse portfolio of RAF contracts. Working from a hybrid base, you will collaborate with military and civilian stakeholders to ensure value for money and delivery of critical air capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and apply departmental commercial policy, procedures and directives.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with internal customers, military units and external defence suppliers.
• Identify and assess commercial risks associated with contract delivery and support line management in mitigation.
• Assist in the end‑to‑end management of contracts, from sourcing through performance monitoring.
• Provide commercial input to project managers, finance and technical teams across MOD locations.
• Travel to MOD sites such as RAF Cosford, RAF Leeming and MOD Lyneham as required.

Required profile

• Demonstrated understanding of procurement and commercial processes within a public‑sector or defence environment.
• Ability to develop contract‑management skills and work across the full contract lifecycle.
• Willingness to work hybrid, attend the primary duty station regularly and travel to other MOD locations.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑engagement capabilities.
