Communications and Engagement Officer

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative communicator to bring the work of includem to life. You will share inspiring stories internally and raise the external profile of our mission, helping children, young people and families in challenging circumstances.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with colleagues to develop communication plans that promote services and support.
• Author and edit content for the internal newsletter to inspire, motivate and inform staff.
• Create engaging, SEO‑optimised content for the website and social media channels, expanding reach and awareness.
• Monitor breaking announcements and craft timely social media responses as part of public affairs work.
• Identify and manage PR ideas, brief broadcasters, journalists and feature‑writers, and build a network of media contacts.
• Work within the Development Team, rolling up sleeves and adapting quickly to change.

Required profile

• Educated to SCQF Level 7 or possess equivalent relevant experience.
• Proven experience supporting organisational communications and/or public affairs.
• Demonstrated ability to use social media and digital channels to engage audiences.
• Excellent written communication and copy‑writing skills with strong attention to detail.
• Strong organisational and planning abilities, able to meet tight deadlines and manage workload independently.
• Creative problem‑solving, active listening and a collaborative team mindset.
