About the role

The Dean of the Don Wright Faculty of Music will provide strategic and collaborative leadership for Western University’s music faculty. Reporting to the Provost and Vice‑President (Academic), the Dean is responsible for advancing the faculty’s academic mission, artistic excellence, research profile, and community engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Faculty’s academic planning, operations, development, and external relations.
• Foster an inclusive, transparent, and collegial environment that supports creativity, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Engage with alumni, donors, community partners, and university leadership to shape the Faculty’s future impact.
• Promote artistic excellence, research activity, and student success across music education, performance, and composition.
• Represent the Faculty within the broader university and external music education and artistic communities.

Required profile

• Proven senior academic leadership experience, preferably in music or related arts disciplines.
• Demonstrated ability to navigate complex organizational structures and build strong relationships.
• Commitment to inclusive leadership, transparent communication, and authentic community engagement.
• Track record of advancing research, artistic practice, and interdisciplinary initiatives.
