Design Engineer – Civil Infrastructure (Bristol)

About the role

We are seeking a Design Engineer to join our Design team in Bristol. You will work within Kier Design, a top‑25 engineering consultancy, delivering civil infrastructure projects and providing safe, buildable solutions that meet client goals.

Key responsibilities

• Review and agree technical requirements of the client remit, ensuring full understanding and challenging where necessary.
• Contribute to the development of fee proposals.
• Organise and lead the day‑to‑day workload of engineers and technical staff, ensuring technical compliance with the remit.
• Maintain compliance with legal requirements, company policies, CDM Regulations, the Kier SHE Management System and design Quality Management System.
• Assist financial and commercial management of projects, including progress monitoring, change control, and delivering to programme and budget with support from Engineering and Commercial Managers.

Required profile

• Experience in design delivery with the ability to manage uncertainty and technical risk.
• Relevant postgraduate experience in the design of hydraulic structures, river engineering or similar.
• Working towards Chartered or Incorporated membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g., CEng, MICE).
• Valid driving licence for site and office visits.
