Director of Transport Planning

About the role

The Director of Transport Planning will lead a multidisciplinary consultancy team delivering transport‑focused projects across the UK. Working alongside town planners, socio‑economic specialists, landscape architects and communications experts, you will shape strategic transport solutions for a variety of clients.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the transport planning practice, setting technical direction and ensuring high‑quality delivery.
• Develop and manage transport strategies, feasibility studies and design proposals.
• Collaborate with internal specialists to integrate transport solutions with urban design, sustainability and heritage considerations.
• Maintain client relationships, present findings and secure new business opportunities.
• Mentor senior staff and contribute to the growth of the consultancy.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in transport planning or related fields.
• Proven leadership experience within a consultancy environment.
• Strong understanding of UK transport policy, regulations and best practices.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
