Human Resources Assistant (Fixed-Term, Hybrid)

About the role

We are seeking proactive HR Assistants to join a newly transformed HR team for a not‑for‑profit organisation in Manchester. The role is fixed‑term until 30 September 2026, hybrid working (2 days in the office, 3 days remote) and offers a clear pathway to a permanent position.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for HR queries via the helpline.
• Support onboarding, including pre‑employment checks and documentation.
• Prepare and issue contracts, variations and HR correspondence.
• Assist payroll processes by preparing and submitting monthly data.
• Administer employee lifecycle activities such as maternity and paternity processes.
• Maintain accurate HR records and ensure data‑protection compliance.
• Support HRIS reporting, data analysis and system enhancements.
• Identify and escalate risks or anomalies in payroll and employee relations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in HR administration or HR operations.
• Experience handling high‑volume transactional HR activity with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret policies, procedures and terms and conditions.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to handle confidential information.
• CIPD Level 3 or 5 qualification (or working towards).
• Available to start immediately or at short notice.

Required skills

• Confident use of HR systems (HRIS) and handling HR data.
• Payroll processing knowledge.
• Basic data analysis for HR reporting.
