Junior Fellow – Medical Specialties

About the role

The Junior Fellow – Medical Specialties is a 12‑month fixed‑term training contract starting August 2026. The post provides structured training and supervised clinical development across several medical specialties within the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.

Key responsibilities

• Rotate through Acute Medicine, Elderly Care, Respiratory, Gastroenterology or General Medicine as part of the Directorate of Specialist Medicine.
• Deliver inpatient care under the supervision of senior consultants while contributing to service delivery.
• Engage with the relevant specialty training curriculum to gain defined educational experiences.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and handover processes.

Required profile

• GMC registration with a licence to practise (or eligibility to obtain one).
• Right to work in the United Kingdom.
• Foundation Year 3 or higher experience, equivalent to ST1 level.
• Eligibility for Tier 2 sponsorship if required, meeting Home Office criteria.
