Junior Sister / Charge Nurse – Bursledon House

About the role

The University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Junior Sister / Charge Nurse to join the specialist Bursledon House unit. This role provides holistic assessment and intervention for young people and families in a home‑from‑home environment, supporting a wide range of clinical pathways.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver patient‑centred nursing care within a multidisciplinary setting covering gastroenterology, neurology, sleep, dermatology, mental health, endocrinology and long‑term ventilation.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments and coordinate interventions for complex, multi‑system symptoms.
• Support families throughout their care journey, ensuring safety, comfort and continuity of care.
• Collaborate with medical, therapeutic and allied health professionals to develop and implement care plans.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to NHS policies and standards.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (NMC) with experience working with children, young people or families.
• Ability to manage a diverse caseload across multiple specialties.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills within a multidisciplinary environment.
