Lead Front End Developer

About the role

Oak Furnitureland is looking for a Lead Front End Developer to drive the evolution of its e‑commerce experience. Based in Swindon with a hybrid working model, you will lead a team of six front‑end engineers, collaborate with product, design, QA and IT operations, and ensure the delivery of high‑performance, accessible, and secure customer‑facing features.

Key responsibilities

• Inspire, coach and manage a front‑end team, reducing knowledge silos and fostering technical ownership.
• Define and track operational KPIs, supporting continuous improvement and alignment with technical strategy.
• Plan resources, recruit, onboard and provide day‑to‑day guidance on project priorities and technical direction.
• Write well‑structured, maintainable code that meets project objectives and deadlines.
• Follow coding guidelines, perform self‑code reviews, and consider performance, usability and accessibility in all changes.
• Commit regularly with clear, atomic messages and ensure code is thoroughly tested before release.

Required profile

• Strong communicator with solid decision‑making abilities.
• Proven leadership experience, capable of influencing stakeholders and keeping projects on track.
• Collaborative mindset, working closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver measurable business value.
