About the role

This full‑time, fixed‑term locum position supports Acute and General Medicine services at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. The successful candidate will work across ambulatory care and inpatient wards, contributing to patient care and service development.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality clinical care to patients in acute and general medicine settings.
• Participate in the Ambulatory Care service and manage ongoing ward responsibilities.
• Engage in quality‑improvement projects, allocating dedicated time for methodology learning and project completion.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective patient pathways.

Required profile

• Medical qualification recognised by the UK regulatory bodies.
• Eligibility to work in the NHS and hold appropriate clinical registration.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusive practice.
• Ability to work full‑time (40 hours per week) on site.

Required skills

• Clinical assessment and management in acute and general medicine.
• Understanding of quality‑improvement methodology.
