Mobile Engineer – Facilities Maintenance

About the role

BGIS is seeking a Mobile Engineer to oversee the maintenance of mechanical and electrical plant across its sites. The role involves planning and executing preventive and reactive tasks, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and coordinating with subcontractors.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance (PPM) on all mechanical and electrical plant according to site task schedules and asset lists.
• Respond to reactive maintenance calls, including concessionary stores and fabric‑related items, and proactively identify improvement opportunities.
• Manage subcontractor performance, approve work, and ensure safe execution under the Permit to Work system.
• Diagnose plant faults, arrange spare parts, and provide parts lists with estimated timescales for remedial work.
• Complete all required paperwork, method statements, and risk assessments for reactive and breakdown tasks.
• Maintain accurate records in the Computer‑Based Maintenance system (e.g., Maximo) and close tickets with correct data.
• Monitor and enforce health‑and‑safety practices, including use of PPE, uniform, and site cleanliness.
• Oversee the operation of the LOTO system and the Building Management System (BMS) to ensure acceptable environmental conditions.
• Produce near‑miss reports, dynamic risk assessments, and escalations for any non‑compliance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mechanical and electrical plant maintenance within a facilities‑management environment.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental procedures, including Permit to Work and LOTO processes.
• Ability to coordinate and supervise subcontractors while maintaining contractual KPIs and SLA compliance.
• Excellent documentation skills for method statements, risk assessments, and maintenance records.
