Associate Principal Architect – Retail Studio

About the role

Arcadis is seeking an Associate Principal Architect to lead its Retail Studio in the UK, based in either Cardiff or Bristol. The role combines design leadership with business development across residential, hospitality and mixed‑use projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of complex retail, residential and hospitality projects, ensuring high client satisfaction.
• Develop and nurture client relationships, identify new business opportunities and contribute to studio growth.
• Set goals, manage performance and mentor the delivery team in line with Arcadis’ strategic objectives.
• Drive innovation in design solutions and support contract negotiations.
• Research industry trends, contribute to process improvements and maintain technical expertise.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
• 12+ years of experience in design, project management and client relationship management.
• Accredited professional designation or licensure.
• Recognised expert with extensive networks in retail mixed‑use projects.
• Proven track record managing large‑scale, complex projects and senior‑level business relationships.
• Strong leadership, communication and commercial acumen.
