Road Engineer – Civil Infrastructure

About the role

WSP is looking for an enthusiastic Road Engineer to join its Roads team in the London & South East region. You will work across several offices (Cambridge, London, Basingstoke, Guildford or Southampton) delivering high‑quality road and bridge designs for a variety of infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare designs and specifications in line with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB).
• Develop detailed road designs using Civil3D and AutoCAD.
• Deliver work packages and manage smaller schemes.
• Support senior engineers with planning, programming and cost estimation.
• Mentor graduate engineers and apprentices.
• Produce technical reports and undertake site visits to inform designs.
• Participate in multiple multidisciplinary project and client accounts simultaneously.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in highways design following DMRB, TSRGD, Traffic Signs Manual and Local Transport Notes.
• Demonstrated passion for innovative design solutions.
• Progress towards professional registration (e.g., IEng).

Required skills

• Proficiency with Civil3D and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of Bentley OpenRoads Designer or MicroStation (advantageous).
• Familiarity with BIM environments such as ProjectWise and Autodesk Forma.
• Understanding of CAD QA/QC processes and collaborative digital delivery.
