Rolling Stock Engineer – Mechanical & Electrical

About the role

We are seeking experienced Rolling Stock Engineers with mechanical or electrical backgrounds to join a major overhaul and refurbishment programme at Acton Depot, London. The role focuses on creating detailed work instructions from OEM specifications, resolving technical challenges, validating SAP routings and BOMs, and providing technical guidance and training to operational teams.

Key responsibilities

• Produce detailed work instructions based on OEM specifications.
• Interpret engineering, assembly and manufacturing drawings.
• Validate SAP routings and bills of materials.
• Resolve complex technical issues across multiple subsystems.
• Support production and engineering teams with technical guidance and training.
• Contribute to workstreams such as bogie overhaul, braking systems, wheelsets, gearboxes, door systems, motors, alternators, compressors, fans, AC traction and electronic assemblies.

Required profile

• Previous experience in rolling stock engineering or a highly regulated sector (e.g., aerospace).
• Strong technical writing ability.
• Experience in overhaul, manufacturing or maintenance environments.
• Knowledge of SAP routings and BOMs is advantageous.
• Eligibility to work in the UK and ability to pass site access checks.
