SEN Learning Support Assistant – Full‑Time (KS2)

About the role
Academics is partnering with a welcoming primary school in East Sussex to recruit a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant on a full‑time basis. The role focuses on providing one‑to‑one support to a KS2 pupil with Special Educational Needs, helping them achieve their full potential. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement the child’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
Key responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a KS2 pupil with SEN.
- Support the child’s learning, development and emotional wellbeing.
- Follow and work towards targets set out in the child’s EHCP.
- Adapt learning activities to meet the child’s individual needs.
- Encourage independence, confidence and positive classroom engagement.
- Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO and other professionals.
- Support behaviour management and promote a positive learning environment.
Required profile
- At least 6 months’ experience working with primary‑aged children.
- Previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
- Confidence in delivering 1:1 support.
- Patience, caring nature and resilience.
- Genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- Ability to commit to a full‑time role.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
