Senior Agile Delivery Manager

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior/Lead Agile Delivery Manager to drive strategic engineering initiatives in a large‑scale public sector environment. You will work closely with engineering strategy, product, architecture and software development teams to deliver shared capabilities, technical enablers and platform services across multiple delivery teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead agile software delivery teams, overseeing sprint planning, execution, retrospectives and delivery tracking.
• Manage delivery across multiple technical workstreams, aligning with business priorities, OKRs and engineering roadmaps.
• Proactively identify and mitigate risks, issues, blockers and cross‑team dependencies.
• Support Product Managers with backlog management and prioritisation across parallel initiatives.
• Build strong relationships with engineering teams, architects, DevOps and wider delivery partners.
• Provide timely reporting, governance updates and clear communication to senior stakeholders.
• Execute operational and governance activities, including ServiceNow change processes.
• Drive continuous improvement and foster a positive agile delivery culture.

Required profile

• Extensive experience working in a UK Government environment, adhering to GDS standards.
• Proven agile delivery management experience within software engineering contexts.
• Strong planning, coordination, backlog and dependency management capabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex technical programmes with multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Quick understanding of technical roadmaps, business priorities and delivery constraints.
