Senior Software Engineer (C++/Rust)

About the role

We are a deeply technical boutique consultancy based in Newcastle, serving highly regulated industries where software quality is critical. As a Senior Software Engineer you will lead the creation of a new division, shaping the team and delivering mission‑critical solutions using C++ and Rust.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with client stakeholders to understand pain points and define solution specifications.
• Design, develop, test and maintain high‑performance, safety‑critical software on hardware‑constrained platforms.
• Lead a green‑field development effort, establishing architecture, coding standards and best practices.
• Mentor and grow a team of engineers, influencing hiring and skill development.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and quality standards throughout the software lifecycle.

Required profile

• Strong computer‑science fundamentals and deep understanding of hardware‑constrained development.
• Proven experience with C++ development; interest or experience in Rust is highly valued.
• Excellent grasp of computer architecture and performance optimisation.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work closely with clients and internal teams.
