Staff Nurse – Ward 24

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Band 5 Registered Nurse to join the surgical nursing team on Ward 24, a 30‑bed ward at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. The role involves delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care within a busy surgical environment, working alongside a supportive multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients’ needs and develop, implement and evaluate evidence‑based care plans.
• Deliver and supervise patient care throughout the ward, ensuring clinical standards are maintained.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary programme development and quality improvement initiatives.
• Work independently and collaboratively, adapting to day, night and weekend shift patterns.
• Support newly qualified nurses and colleagues new to the ward.

Required profile

• Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
• Excellent communication and decision‑making abilities.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development.
• Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to apply evidence‑based practice.
