Staff Nurse – General Surgery (Band 5)

About the role

The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking an enthusiastic Band 5 Registered Nurse to join the surgical nursing team on Ward 28, a 17‑bed Surgical Palliative Ward at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. You will work within a supportive multidisciplinary team delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, deliver and supervise patient care throughout the ward.
• Implement and evaluate evidence‑based care programmes, ensuring high standards.
• Work independently and collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Adapt to a dynamic clinical environment and support newly qualified nurses.

Required profile

• Current Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration.
• Excellent communication, organisational and decision‑making abilities.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development.
• Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to deliver evidence‑based care.
