1-2-1 Teaching Assistant for Key Stage 3 SEND Student

About the role
We are looking for a caring 1‑2‑1 Teaching Assistant to support a Key Stage 3 student with Autism Spectrum Condition in a specialist SEND school in East Birmingham. You will work closely with the class teacher and specialist staff to help the pupil access the curriculum, build confidence and achieve personal targets.
Key responsibilities
- Provide dedicated one‑to‑one support during lessons and other school activities.
- Implement personalised strategies for communication, emotional regulation and independence.
- Assist the student in engaging with the curriculum and completing tasks.
- Promote positive behaviour and develop social skills.
- Monitor progress towards EHCP targets and report to teachers.
- Collaborate with parents, carers and external professionals.
Required profile
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND, especially autism.
- Patient, calm and nurturing approach.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
- Ability to adapt support to the individual needs of the student.
- Passion for helping children with additional needs.
