Android Engineer (Grocery & Retail)

About the role

We are looking for an Android Engineer to join the Grocery & Retail catalogue enablement team at Just Eat Takeaway.com. You will work in a collaborative, cross‑functional environment with colleagues in London, Berlin, Bristol and Amsterdam to build seamless experiences for millions of customers and grocery partners worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with product owners, engineers and backend teams to define and deliver new Android features.
• Take technical ownership of components, ensuring high‑quality code, performance and scalability.
• Manage timelines, communicate progress and align with broader team goals.
• Contribute to the Android guild by sharing best practices, patterns and standards.
• Support changes through production, including monitoring and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proactive, collaborative and detail‑oriented with a passion for innovation.
• Ability to work independently and take responsibility for key technical initiatives.
• Experience delivering high‑quality software in a fast‑moving, multi‑team environment.

Required skills

• Strong development experience with Kotlin, including integration and unit testing.
• Deep understanding of Android architecture (multi‑module, Dependency Injection, MVVM).
• Proficiency in building UI with Jetpack Compose.
• Experience integrating with server‑side APIs in a micro‑services architecture.
• Hands‑on experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of isolated and reusable component development.
• Familiarity with experimentation and A/B testing.
