Android Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an Android Engineer to help shape the future of Zopa’s mobile experience. You will join the Mobile Platform team and work on the technical foundations that power our Android app, driving the migration from React Native to a fully native Kotlin implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Report to the Engineering Manager for the Mobile Platform team.
• Collaborate with native mobile engineers to design, build, and evolve the Android platform.
• Lead the migration of the app from React Native to native Android using Kotlin, applying strong architectural foundations and best practices.
• Partner with the broader mobile engineering community to define native development standards and support cross‑training.
• Identify performance bottlenecks, address technical debt, and resolve defects to improve app quality.
• Work cross‑functionally with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver features that leverage native Android capabilities.

Required profile

• Experience building and shipping production Android applications.
• Strong understanding of architectural foundations and industry best practices for mobile development.
• Ability to work collaboratively across engineering, product, and design teams.
