Assistant Building Surveyor

About the role

The successful candidate will join a leading multi‑disciplinary consultancy in Birmingham, supporting refurbishment, maintenance and improvement projects. You will work closely with clients, consultants and contractors to ensure projects progress smoothly from inception to completion.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the management and delivery of construction and refurbishment projects.
• Carry out building inspections, surveys and condition assessments.
• Prepare specifications, schedules of work and technical reports.
• Support contract administration and project monitoring activities.
• Provide professional building surveying services, including dilapidations, defects analysis and planned maintenance programmes.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders.

Required profile

• Degree qualified, or working towards a degree, in Building Surveying or a related discipline.
• Working towards, or keen to pursue, professional chartership (MRICS).
• Strong communication and organisational abilities.
• Proactive attitude with a willingness to develop technical and project‑management expertise.

• Preparation of technical specifications and schedules.
