Band 3 Ward Administrator – Cedar Ward

About the role

We are seeking a highly organised and personable Ward Administrator to be the first point of contact for patients and visitors on Cedar Ward at Chippenham Community Hospital. In this role you will ensure a smooth, well‑coordinated patient journey from admission through discharge while supporting the multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a wide range of clerical and administrative tasks that keep the ward operating efficiently.
• Support care coordination by facilitating admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date patient records throughout the care pathway.
• Handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism.
• Communicate clearly with patients, families, colleagues and external partners via telephone, email and post.
• Work proactively within a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment.
• Build strong relationships through empathy, confidence and respect.
• Manage complex or sensitive situations discreetly.

Required profile

• Previous administration experience, preferably in a busy or customer‑facing healthcare setting.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Professional demeanor with the ability to handle confidential information.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
