Band 5 Staff Nurse – Endoscopy (Royal Alexandra Hospital)

About the role

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Band 5 Staff Nurse to join the busy Endoscopy service at Royal Alexandra Hospital. You will deliver high‑quality, person‑centred care to patients undergoing endoscopic procedures in a dynamic day‑surgery environment, working alongside a skilled multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide safe, effective nursing care to patients attending for endoscopic procedures.
• Assess patient needs and plan, implement, and evaluate evidence‑based care in partnership with the MDT.
• Offer physical, technical and emotional support throughout the endoscopy journey.
• Maintain accurate and timely patient records in line with NMC and organisational standards.
• Contribute to a safe clinical environment by adhering to health and safety policies.
• Support and supervise junior staff, learners and healthcare support workers as required.
• Demonstrate flexibility by working across endoscopy rooms, recovery and other day‑surgery areas.

Required profile

• Registered Adult Nurse with a valid NMC registration and live UK PIN.
• Ability to practise safely within professional, ethical and legal frameworks.
• Previous experience in endoscopy or day surgery is desirable.
• Strong communication skills to support anxious or distressed patients and relatives.
• Commitment to continuing professional development and reflective practice.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and manage competing priorities.

Required skills

• Use of clinical equipment for endoscopic procedures.
• Proficiency with electronic patient record systems.
• Competence in performing endoscopy‑related nursing tasks.
