About the role
This full‑time position supports a busy Children’s Centre in Bartley Green, Birmingham. You will be the first point of contact for families, staff and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and safe environment.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the reception desk, sign‑in visitors and direct them to appropriate services.
- Answer and route telephone calls with a professional telephone manner.
- Handle general administrative duties such as filing, photocopying and maintaining the email inbox.
- Use multiple in‑house IT systems to record information and support centre operations.
- Promote child protection and safeguarding procedures throughout the centre.
Required profile
- Excellent communication and telephone etiquette.
- Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.
- Understanding of child protection and safeguarding issues.
- Recent experience as a school or children’s centre receptionist with satisfactory references.
- Eligibility to hold an enhanced DBS check.
Required skills
- Strong IT systems proficiency.
- Effective email management.
- Familiarity with telephone system operation.
What we offer
- Fixed‑term contract until the end of the year, Monday‑Friday 9 am‑5 pm.
- Hourly rate of £14.56.
