Civil & Piling Superintendent

About the role

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Civil & Piling Superintendent to join our on‑shore construction team on a major UK petrochemical project. The role operates within a live operational plant, overseeing civil and structural works and managing subcontractors.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and manage civil and structural subcontractors as part of the site construction management team.
• Work safely within a live operational petrochemical/process plant environment.
• Report on subcontractor performance through weekly reports and daily coordination meetings.
• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across all civil subcontractors.
• Coordinate civil and structural works with other disciplines and monitor contractor performance against specifications.
• Resolve technical queries, support engineering coordination and enforce project quality standards.
• Conduct regular safety audits, review method statements and risk assessments, and ensure site compliance.
• Monitor contractor manpower and resources to meet project targets and track progress against the programme.
• Assist the planning team with sequencing, programme updates and recovery planning.
• Support cost monitoring, assess additional works and oversee project documentation, completion and handover requirements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in civil and structural construction supervision.
• Experience working on live petrochemical or process plant sites.
• Valid CSCS card (Gold Level preferred) and relevant safety/first‑aid certifications.
• Relevant qualifications such as CITB, CTA, City & Guilds or NVQ (or equivalent).
• Desirable: ECITB Temporary Works, SAF18 qualification.
