Engineer - Structural Integrity

About the role

We are seeking an Engineer – Structural Integrity to join our Component & Structural Integrity Integration team. Working in a hybrid model from Derby, Warrington or Manchester, you will help develop the rules, requirements and safety case that ensure the reliability of mechanical pressure‑boundary components in our Small Modular Reactor programme.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain structural integrity requirements and technical guidance for mechanical components.
• Apply cross‑disciplinary knowledge (design, materials, analysis, manufacturing, inspection) to guarantee component reliability.
• Contribute to the structural integrity safety case, providing technical arguments and supporting evidence.
• Support design teams in interpreting and embedding integrity requirements into designs.
• Collaborate with internal teams, external partners and the supply chain to deliver integrated solutions.
• Provide high‑quality technical input for regulatory engagement activities.
• Manage own workload to meet programme, cost and quality expectations.

Required profile

• Degree or HND in a relevant engineering or technical discipline.
• Experience applying structural integrity principles within complex engineering environments.
• Broad understanding of pressure‑retaining components and relevant design codes (e.g., ASME, EN).
• Structured, analytical mindset with strong communication across multidisciplinary teams.
