About the role

Join the facilities team at Heriot‑Watt University’s Riccarton campus as a Cleaner. You will help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors across accommodation, offices, meeting rooms and lecture theatres.

Key responsibilities

• Clean university buildings and student accommodation to the required standards, following standard operating procedures.
• Operate cleaning equipment and machinery safely, reporting any faults to the Cleaning Supervisor.
• Support line management in delivering a flexible and professional service.
• Report repairs, faults and maintenance issues promptly.
• Ensure service level agreements are met and contribute to a high level of customer satisfaction.

Required profile

• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
• Strong interpersonal and customer‑service skills.
• Ability to work quickly, accurately and flexibly in a pressured environment.
• Professional, proactive attitude with attention to detail.

What we offer

• Grade 3 salary of £24,546 per annum.
• 28 days annual leave plus additional university closed days.
• Flexible shift patterns (25 hrs/week or 6 hrs/week) including weekend work.
